was messing around in the garage
found a piece of old pine 1x2
carved up a hearth and spindle
first try very black sooty dust when burning in the hearth...looking good!
touched up the tip of the spindle with my diving sparrow and lubed up the other end with sweat...
just about had an ember but i ran out of steam.
*note to self, when you think that the bow string is too taught...it may very well bee too taught and slow down your motion.

...on to attempt #980. hahahaha

See I am a fan of too taught but we have different styles. I have to go harvest some wood Thursday. I am going to try and bust out 5-10 coals.

I got a coal today! Was not able to bring it to flame, got it to the tinder dundle but it kept burning through the bundle without flaming! I dunno.

You guys sure are committed !

I don't know if I could do it, I like to be traditional , I use cap ball n black powder all deer season . Side arm too but not to sure about bowstring fire .
Not sure I'd have the nerves for it . I would probley make kinlin out of the bow lol! !

Keep up the good work !
