My First Custom Knife!
did some spring cleaning in the shop today. i came across my first custom knife. i made friends with a blacksmith who helped me get it going. he gave me the steel and the handle material, then he heat treated it for me too!
1095 steel, Birdseye Maple, Red liners, brass pins
i added the filework later on after the knife was completed... it was very difficult to file!
sorry for the crappy pics, i took them with my phone while in my shop.
do you still have your first custom knife?

Re: My First Custom Knife!
The first knife I made. I hardened it in the driveway with a big ol' propane torch (i.e. a flamethrower) and tempered it in the kitchen oven
1095 steel, apple scales that I harvested from an old dead branch, red liners, brass pins
The sheath was 8 oz veg tanned leather that I dyed with some walnut dye I made in the fall. It's a blatant ripoff of Blind Horse Knife's new neck sheath. This is a crappy pic

I have never owned a custom haha. If I did it might be a Rick Marchand knife. I like the way they look. I dont know how good of users they are though.
