Cant Wait! Only a couple more weeks. It is my understanding that EDC items dont count on the list. I have 3 more spaces that dont need to be filled but I may be missing something so let me know and post your list as well.

Here is the list I have

Boy Am I behind the 8ball !
This weekend I will be running around the House scrounging .
I Think I've gotten soft .

When I was a teenager I would have less than this when we hit the woods!
How times have changed.
Now I have to go on a "special" campout to limit how much gear I take with me. LOL
No worriesl Ole Scout, we will help all that come to make sure you are as comfortable as possible, by showing you different ways of creating a natural camp using available materials.

The main thing to remember is the 5 C's:
Cut - a fixed blade knife is best
Cordage - 50-100' of paracord or equivelent
Cover - Some type of shelter tarp, whether a Heavy Duty Emergency blanket or tarp at least 5'X7' or military poncho
Combustion - a sure way of making fire that gives you eveery chance to get it going the first time
Container - Something to boil and carry water in. Could be a SS Bottle or a lastic bottle and soup can or metal cup, or a canteen cup combo.

Beyond that and its all luxury items.

Remember also that it will still be hunting season for small game. Be sure to have a small game license if you plan on hunting, and some hunters orange.

There is plenty of woods to take small game where we will be.

Yea it would be nice to get some freash rabbit for dinner . I'll be sure to bring some soup.

It has been since I was a Boy Scout that I have weathered a winter woods camp .
Should be fun, it sounds like the weather may be in our favor although still a bit chilly at night.

You won't need the tent with the tarp. We will be making lean-to's with long fires to keep warm. One fire in the middle with two shelters on either side for anyone who wants to. that will help with firewood collection. Might not need the shovel? I will bring a medium one for the group to use for latrine dootie. As we will want to designate one area for all to use to keep it clean...

We won't let anyone DIE, I promise. LOL

I CANT WAIT! I think I am going to get a small game lisence. Is throwing rocks at em legal?

Uhm no. but I will bring the .22LR you sighted in so you can get some tree rats!

I am going to try and be out to the Port Huron Game Area Friday afternoon by 4pm, no later than 6pm.

I have to drop the daughter off in Howell sometime after noon, then travel to Port Huron. Then on Sunday I will be leaving around noon as I have to travel back to Howell to pick her up. She is going to the Anime Convention in Lansing with some friends of ours. Then on Monday my dad is having his hip replaced. Going to be a busy weekend for me for sure.

Looking forward to a weekend in the woods with ya'll.

yes jason and i will be the first ones up and i we will set up a "trail" for you all to follow us back to camp.
i will be going there firat thing friday morning and setting up camp and collecting firewood and doing stuff.
bad news for me tho i have something i must do on sunday so ill be hikiing out sometime sat eve ...i know i know but at least ill get in one good overnight and 2 solid days with you all!

I think I'll just stuff my daypack inside a larger rucksack with a couple of backup/comfort items. This is my plan:

I'll probably have a couple of field guides, a notebook, and a titanium mug too just because they're already in my daypack.

I cannot make it out until 10-11ish on Saturday morning...can somebody PM me a general description of the planned area of the camp. I'm quite familiar with the area so a brief description of what trail to take, east or west of the stream that crosses the pipeline, etc. will be helpful

jason and i will be out frist thing and give you a trail of tied up tp on bushes and branches to follow us back to camp with....it will be easy to recognize.

I will be down as early as I can on friday. It is a 4 and half hour drive for me so I am thinking 6 o'clock in the morn. i should be there around 10.

I had some dental work yesterday that isn't quite right, but I'm coming anyway.

Gear change:
For my cover I am bringing some heavy mil plastic sheeting and my emergency blanket, counted as two items.

I'm bringing a roll of bankline instead of my paracord kit.

Here is my gear. I almost got it all into my 10X4 Maxped!
Plus blanket roll with extra socks and plastic sheet for cover, rain coat and food bag in the haversack.

I need to work on my packing skills I guess . I'll see how it works out in the final pack .

Picked up a permit so I'm hoping for dinner not sure about cooking it though that should be interesting .

GO WEST FROM THE TURNOUT UNTIL YOU SEE THE CORN FIELD, THEN PROCEDE TO THE SOUTH WEST CORNER OF THE GREEN PLANTED CLOVER FIELD, THEN WALK STRAIGHT BACK IN 150 YARDS INTO THE WOODS!

PLEASE, PLEASE BROTHER I HOPE YOU GET THIS BEFORE YOU LEAVE!
